I started setting up my craft table at fairs a few years ago, but in 1997 I started setting
up my table at the Dressage horse shows at Beland Farms. I sold T-shirts, cards, etc.
with my horse drawings on them. I sat and watched all that went on around me: horses and
riders warming up, going to perform their test, and just hanging around. The owners had a
young granddaughter who would come and stay the day. Just about every show, her mom would
take her down the barn, get "Oliver" the pony, and she would get a pony ride. "Oliver" was
a very cute and very patient pony. He was very careful when she was on his back, and
always moved slowly. I decided I would make a painting of Oliver at the farm. I, then gave
the painting to the Beland family as a gift and thank you for their time.
